2021.10.20 14:28 Williw0w Some help with traveling.

I have an ethernet device I use for stripping ads, privacy and such. If I want to stop by a Hotel, McDonalds or Starbucks and utilize it, do I need a wifi repeater or what? Is there a device that can log into their wifi and I can plug my ethernet device then my device into? OR an all in one package wifi repeater I can get that can do that?

2021.10.20 14:28 throawayacc_999 Is youtube a bit lighter to stream on than Twitch and Trovo?

I was checking the recommended bitrate settings for Youtube, Twitch, and Trovo currently the 3 services I'm currently interested in streaming and I saw that Youtube has slightly lighter recommendations bitrate-wise.
For example, my upload speed is 3.7 Mbps. and I thought about allocating 3000kbps to stream in 720p 30fps, on Twitch and Trovo but then I saw on youtube that you can stream 1080p 30fps as long as you have a range of 3000-6000kbps. is it because the encoding is slightly worse than Twitch. Also I'm interested in streaming single-player story games, I know that I'd have to lower the bitrate if I play a Multiplayer game
Here are the requirements for the above mentioned streaming services https://imgur.com/a/iggPYMI

2021.10.20 14:28 shrapnel189 I Got Hacked and Lost It All

I woke up this morning and found my hardware wallet emptied out. I just don’t understand it. All of my crypto is gone. I lost everything…
I’ve had my device only in my possession the whole time. My seed phrase is safely stored in my safe and no one has access to it. Oh yeah, and I have a picture of my seed phrase on my phone/pc/backed up to Google Photos and I also typed it up in a text file I saved on my desktop. I also typed my seed phrase into this sketchy unknown new software wallet I’m trying out.
/S, for those who need it
Idk who needs to hear this, but don’t do those things. I see way too many of these posts. Don’t digitize your seed phrase in any way, and if you use a hardware wallet only ever enter the seed phrase on the device.

2021.10.20 14:28 lyricalcombat I don't love you anymore

You broke my heart beyond repair. The trust will never come back and I'm so tired of trying. I'm so tired of fighting constant negativity to make this work.
I saw you the other day and I really thought that it would improve things after being apart for so long, until I saw that specific girls name in your phone which pretty much confirmed that I cannot and do not love you anymore.
I don't feel like I need to give an explanation as to why I'm leaving. It's time to put me first and focus on living the best life that I possibly can without being tied down to a lying, cheating, manipulative narcissist.
You never loved me. You never cared for me. And that's okay because I know I'll find someone that will.
Goodbye.

2021.10.20 14:28 Ftb2278 My bass story / should I commit to playing?

I'm not sure what my next step should be in playing bass.
I played bass for about 6 years during high school and college but never really took it seriously; I took lessons in college and could sight read bass clef reasonably well if I practiced the piece in advance, but I never practiced enough and wasn't a very good player (I sucked, in other words). I was in a (bad) metal cover band mostly playing Metallica (slower songs, never could get the fast part of One or play Master of Puppets accurately) and Sabbath for about a year, this is really the only time I practiced regularly and enjoyed practicing. I really enjoyed it though and had a blast. I played with both a pick and fingers depending on the song, doing whatever worked "better" for that piece. I gave it up after college due to time constraints and frustration with not having time to practice, frustration with my skills getting worse from not practicing, no more band, and never getting good enough to play the music and songs I loved (Master of Puppets, Disposable Heroes, etc.). I never consciously said "I am done playing", but one day I put it back in its hardshell case and there it sat through 7 different moves. I never sold my amps, bass, or any of my other equipment.
15 years later, about 6 weeks ago, I randomly picked my old bass back up on a whim after discussing how I used to play with a friend. I really enjoyed playing it at first! But... I have to decide if I should continue, and I'm not sure.
I have a Fender MIM Jazz 5 string. The truss rod is maxed out and I still have too much relief doing the 1st and 20th fret check (I do not have gauges); saddles are already low on the B & G strings (lowest setting possible on the B), so my action is too high on the higher frets/notes. I had replaced my old strings with a set of light gauge strings a week ago and adjusted the neck. So I either need a luthier to work on my neck (press/heat solution possibly), a new neck and install, or a new bass, as it's hurting my hands/wrists/left elbow to play from over-exertion (plus, I mistime notes with my left hand just because the strings are too high; playing above the 7th fret sucks). I will note this bass has bad neck dive anyway so I wouldn't mind replacing it. I have heard the newer Fender MIM J5 necks are better and fixed this problem, but I'm not sure if that's because they changed the body as well (my headstock is an inline 5 with a Gotoh tuner set, not a 4+1 configuration).
I am finding my old problems with practicing creeping in; I enjoy learning riffs on new songs, but not so much perfecting them/learning every little fill for complete songs, and I still hate playing with a metronome (my time keeping sucks). Further, I am mostly a thrash metal guy and always struggled with speed and whether to play with a pick vs. fingers (I use 2, would like to train myself to use 3 if I go the finger route). I like the finger sound and feel better, and think my accuracy is better (and this is primarily what I have been doing since picking it back up a month ago, mostly learning/jamming Sabbath songs); but long term I feel like a pick may be better since most of my music is faster paced (old Metallica, Megadeth, etc.) though I was sloppier with one back then but it seems easier to build up speed for faster thrash metal songs. Or I could do both like I used to, which seems like a great way to never get great at either.
So I guess I have several questions; if my bass was in good, playable shape it wouldn't really matter and I could decide in time but as it's hurting my hands/wrists to play with this high action I have to decide if I want to commit my money and time to resolving it:
-Should I keep playing and try to "get good", or is my slightly waning interest lately a sign that this is going to phase out? I have been playing 1-2 hours a night most nights, though I admit some of this is in front of the tv with me just noodling around. I am unlikely to ever join a band so this would most likely ever only be me jamming at home to music by myself. None of my friends listen to metal or rock and play an instrument/live close enough to me. I am not good enough to join a band right now and probably won't be for some time.
-Should I even keep playing, or am I doomed to never being able to play as fast as I would like and as I have no intentions of joining a band, what is even the point?
-Do I get my Fender MIM J5 neck heat treated/pressed to fix the relief/truss rod setting, replace the neck (I think this would run me somewhere around $400 without install), or just replace the bass entirely (I paid ~470 in the late 90s, I think this retails for ~800 now)? I am open to buying a new bass, and $ isn't a real concern (I'd be willing to spend up to ~$1600 on a new bass) but I don't want to waste it either. The truss rod isn't broken, but it is totally maxed out - if I turn it any tighter I will certainly break it/strip the threads as I have applied significant pressure with the strings off (and have attempted this multiple times with the strings loosened to no tension and guiding the neck flatter with my hands while adjusting). It turns fine the opposite way, and doesn't offer very much resistance when tightening again until I hit a certain point. I have it turned all the way and have applied a fair amount of pressure, so I believe it is fully maxed out.
-What do I do with my old bass if I buy a new bass? Replace the neck? Sell it? I don't want to screw anyone, so how do you sell a bass with a maxed out neck (or will this look great in a dumpster)? Is a late 90s Fender MIM J5 with a bad neck something a store or person would even want? The finish is in pretty good condition and the rest of the bass is stock and in decent shape (pickups have a little rust but work fine).
If you made it this far through this wall of text, I appreciate your time and opinion. All the best.

2021.10.20 14:28 protoken How to get Simple Tab Groups hotkeys to work on linux

Hi.

I just installed the Simple Tab Groups add-on, and are trying to get the hotkeys to work so that I can switch between groups using the keyboard.
The F8 works and pop up a menu in which I can select the group to activate, but in the add-on's hotkeys page I should be able to configure hotkeys to do more advance stuff. However, I can't get these to work. Are there any other linux users here who have gotten these hotkeys to work?
